DJ Carl Hinds
DJ Carl Hinds is a professional DJ and Emcee with broad international experience in corporate, private and arts-based events, predominantly in Europe and Asia.
Whilst living in Asia, Carl helped to shape part of the music scene with his Soul, Funk and Disco series ‘STOMP’ and was co-founder of the collective ‘Gimme Shelter,’ a vinyl only event with a selection of Singapore’s most sought after DJs. He also performed at a range of Asia’s most prestigious events, including The Iskandar Puteri Jazz Festival in Southern Malaysia, both as a DJ and Emcee. He is an experienced curator and performer at large scale functions, Gala Dinners for Associations, Chambers of Commerce and Private Members Clubs with a diverse set of clients such as The Retail Travel Awards Singapore, Asia Professional Speakers Singapore (APSS) and Crystal Palace Football Club, London.
Throughout the lockdown, Carl was an early pioneer in creating virtual online events with the launch of his show Stir Crazy Live, a popular live streaming vinyl experience that broadcast globally every weekend. He later developed his brand Music for the Soul with his weekly show Sunday Soul Sessions, rising to the top 20 most listened to Vinyl only Shows on Mixcloud for soul enthusiasts around the world.
Carl’s first love is as an old school vinyl DJ. His private collection totals well over 5,000 records, collected since his teenage years. He is often seen carrying his record box, and sometimes even his turntables, to gigs and continues to supplement his collection with rare soul or other soul inspired genres. Preferring the authenticity and sound of original music, he is a purist at heart, loving nothing more than the snap crackle and pop sound of vinyl. He says, in his own words, ‘absolutely nothing will ever beat it!’
Equipped with a wealth of musical knowledge, Carl plays to the crowd and curates unforgettable experiences that uplift and entertain diverse groups. Seamlessly blending together genres of music, Carl’s goal is to bring a joyous energy to any event. He lives in Lisbon, Portugal.
